VantagePoint
Version 6

Follow these links for an overview of many of the features of VPv6.

These are great examples of Search Technology's product development strategy - build powerful and flexible tools, and integrate/streamline/optimize based on feedback from our customers.

  Turn Information into Knowledge

Database interoperability - VPv6 has a powerful new wizard for importing data from Excel files and queries on Access databases (menu File/Import Database Table). Extract data from multi-valued fields. Apply the NLP parser. Save it all as an Import Filter that can be reused and shared with other VP users.

Refine after import - Apply VP's powerful import engine step-by-step to refine the dataset (menu Fields/Further Processing). Use the Import Engine Editor to add refinements and customize the tool set.

Improved performance - VPv6 has much faster performance working with large datasets. The VPT file format has been upgraded to use less memory and take less time opening and saving datasets. The import, analysis, and display engines have been optimized to support the current generation of multi-core processors.

Save graphics inside VPT files - Our new graphical visualizations in VPv5 have been very popular. Now VPv6 saves the graphics inside the VPT file (no more "missing external dependencies" when you forget to bundle all the pieces together). This makes sharing VPT files easier, especially when using Sharepoint to manage your datasets.

Export value-added records to other tools - One of the most popular macros in VPv5 is Record Export. That feature has been pulled inside VPv6, making it easier and faster to get enhanced records out in CSV, TAB, TXT, and XML format for use in other tools.

Turn a matrix into a "heat map" - Add a range of color to all the cells of a matrix and quickly spot the high values.

Zoom in/out for lists and matrices - In the 'right click' context menu, select the zoom value for the view.

Get a new vantage point on a matrix - Finding the top 10 values in a million-cell matrix is difficult. See matrices in a new way - a sortable list of cells - and use Detail Windows to dig in and discover which terms drive the result.

Easier access to sheets in the dataset - A new toolbar provides several ways to navigate among the sheets in a dataset.

New flexibility working with maps - Among the new features: move nodes, reset the map, show/hide legend, and open all the information "drop down boxes" with one click.
